Alta Bakery + Cafe

This coffee shop and bakery is located in the Cooper Molera Adobe which makes the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee and also learn more about Monterey's history.
The Cooper Molera Adobe was built in 1845 and where Alta Bakery is located today was once operated as a dry goods store. Over the years the building ownership changed hands and many different businesses occupied this space until it was turned over to the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1968. Alta Bakery + Cafe was created in 2019 and now uses this space to serve hand crafted coffee beverages and baked goods. They also host a local art gallery inside the coffee shop, and have a wonderful courtyard space that is surrounded by the Adobe's other exhibits.
Grab your cup of coffee and make sure to explore the Adobe's gardens and orchard just right around the corner.

The building is made from repurposed water tanks made from old growth redwood trees. The property was originally an art gallery and although it is now a coffee shop and cafe they still have local artists work to view and buy.
