Spend a relaxing weekend at the modern luxury boutique Ameswell Hotel in Mountain View, California, where you can focus on wellness while also taking advantage of the many neighboring adventures and events. With a saltwater pool, a cutting-edge fitness center, and an award-winning restaurant, the 255- room hotel has everything you need for an enjoyable weekend.
When it comes to local day trips and staycations, the Bay Area has a lot to offer, and one area I've been wanting to explore more is the Southern Peninsula. While many people associate Mountain View, California with tech offices and suburban life, it is also the gateway to some of the most stunning redwood forests, open space preserves, and local vineyards.
Whether you're visiting Mountain View for business, pleasure, or the sheer convenience of staying near the Shoreline Amphitheater, you may discover far more in this pocket of the Silicon Valley than you anticipated.
The Ameswell Hotel Review
800 Moffett Blvd, Mountain View, CA 94043
This leads me to The Ameswell Hotel, which is the subject of this hotel review. There are many things about this hotel that I enjoyed, and it certainly has some unique qualities that you won't find in other Mountain View hotels.
While most hotels in Silicon Valley are your standard business hotel chains like Hyatt, Holiday Inn, and Hampton Inn, The Ameswell Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel that offers a more modern resort-style experience.
The hotel's design features a mix of contemporary and techy components commonly found in San Francisco Bay Area architecture, as well as playful patterns and natural organic materials that you might see in hotels in the likes of Palm Springs or San Diego.
It is reasonable for a mid-range budget, and perfect for those staying the weekend or maybe even just a night for a little staycation! I do say so myself that it would make a great place to also take a workcation!

The Rooms
One thing I always look forward to in a hotel stay are the comfortable beds and clean and crisp linens, which The Ameswell Hotel most definitely had! The cool tone patterns and warm wood textures, as well as the orange moonlighting and accent furniture, provide a sense of balance and harmony as you enter the space.
The bathroom is sleek and modern, and it even uses Juice Beauty products, which is a well-known line of organic, vegan, and sustainable skin care products, endorsed by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson. There are no mini bottles of plastic shampoo and conditioner lying around; instead, quality-reusable bottles are an excellent eco-friendly substitute.
After a long day of touring surrounding Redwood forests and venturing out to Half Moon Bay, we felt that retiring to our hotel room was restful and exactly what we needed!
We always choose to book through Hotels.com for our hotel stays because we often find last minute flash deals and enjoy racking up the rewards stays!
Restaurants On-Site
Roger Bar & Restaurant
The Roger Bar & Restaurant on-site at this hotel is a significant perk because not only is it one of Mountain View's most trendy restaurants, but it's also open until 10 p.m. and the bar until 12 a.m. on weekends! We discovered that the local restaurants closed a little earlier, and we loved not having to drive after a few cocktails.
The restaurant is an indoor-outdoor concept that serves a range of meals for people with varying budgets. Choose a burger or salad, or if you're feeling sophisticated, waygu and seafood entrees are available. On weekends, I recommend making reservations because this is a busy restaurant, especially when the weather is nice enough to sit outside on the patio!
Unfortunately the adorable air-stream cocktail bar was not open during our stay, and I assume that it's serviceable during the Summer and warmer months.
Don't forget to check out their Happy Hour from Tues-Sun 4pm-6pm or brunch with bottomless mimosas on the weekends!
The Fly-By Cafe
We enjoyed stopping by the Fly-By Cafe every morning for coffee, which has a full-service coffee bar as well as a small menu of baked breakfast goods and lunch items, as well as a selection of grab-and-go food items. Before you embark on a day of adventures, have a seat by the toasty fire-place. I also appreciate that the hotel and restaurant incorporates many sustainable and environmentally friendly elements such as biodegradable straws and to-go containers.
